About My Teaching
With many years of art teaching experience, in NYC public schools and as a museum educator, primarily at The Guggenheim Museum, I currently teach classes and workshops at my studio in Harlem in NYC. I provide sequential art classes for children in the homeschooling community, after school art classes, adult classes, and special workshops for adults, kids and families.
My classes are held in my light-filled studio in West Harlem. In-Person classes are for 5-7 students. Online classes are also possible. You can learn more about upcoming classes here.

In my classes I introduce students to all art medium in an exploratory, joyful and developmentally appropriate way. I believe that we learn best when engaged in hands-on activities. Sharing the art-making experience, and art from around the world are both integral parts of my classes. I am sensitive to the needs and desires of each student, and support each individual in their unique development.
Art is a form of communication which allows us to explore our day-to-day experience and imaginations as we create work. Art is also about working with materials. What happens when you swirl your brush filled with blue paint quickly along the surface of your paper? What color will you get when you mix all of the colors that you’ve already made? Art is about problem solving. What discovery will a child make while attempting to keep their cardboard sculpture from tipping over? As students explore materials and make choices they develop skills and their confidence in expressing themselves grows.
I teach specific techniques and methods while also allowing for plenty of individual investigation and exploration. Please contact me here with any questions you may have about classes. I hope to see you in a class soon!
